Fertilization
Professional Fertilization That Feeds Your Trees from the Roots Up
At General Tree Service, we provide a science-backed solution to keep your trees thriving. Unlike generic lawn sprays that only scratch the surface, our deep-root fertilization program delivers nutrients directly to the root zone. With over 75 years of experience in Kern County, we understand the specific soil challenges of our region and how to correct them, ensuring your trees have the energy they need to grow strong, resist stress, and add value to your property for years to come.
Why Professional Fertilization Is Worth the Investment
Combat Nutrient Deficiencies
Urban soils are often stripped of organic matter. Our targeted fertilization replenishes vital macronutrients (such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium) and micronutrients, correcting visible signs of decline, like chlorosis, which often shows up as yellowing leaves.
Boost Pest and Disease Resistance
A healthy tree is a fighting tree. Trees that receive proper nutrition have stronger natural defenses against boring insects, fungal infections, and environmental stressors. Investing in soil health now prevents expensive treatments or removals later.
Improve Root Growth
Growth above ground starts below ground. Deep-root fertilization aerates the soil and stimulates the development of fibrous roots. A robust root system anchors the tree more securely and improves water uptake, which is critical during our hot, dry summers.
Enhance Aesthetic Appeal
Well-fed trees simply look better. Proper fertilization leads to fuller canopies, more vibrant leaf color, and vigorous bloom cycles. It restores the lush, established look that makes mature trees the centerpiece of your landscape.
Extend Tree Lifespan
Trees are a long-term investment. Regular nutritional care helps mature trees maintain their structural integrity and vitality for decades longer than neglected trees, preserving the shade and character of your property.
What Our Fertilization Service Can Address
Deep-Root Feeding
We apply a slow-release liquid fertilizer directly into the root zone (4–8 inches deep). This bypasses surface grass roots, reduces runoff, and aerates the soil simultaneously for maximum absorption.
Soil Correction and Conditioning
Kern County soil can be tough. We address issues like high alkalinity or compaction that lock up nutrients and prevent roots from accessing them. Our treatments help balance pH levels and improve soil structure, enhancing water retention.
Stress Recovery
Trees stressed by drought, construction damage, or recent transplanting need extra help. We provide custom nutrient blends designed to jumpstart recovery, reduce transplant shock, and help compromised trees regain their footing.
Seasonal Nutrient Management
Timing is everything. We schedule applications to align with your trees' natural growth cycles, boosting energy reserves in the fall for root growth and providing immediate fuel in the spring for canopy production.
Young Tree Establishment
New trees need a strong start. Our fertilization programs for young trees focus on rapid root establishment, ensuring they transition successfully from the nursery container to the landscape without staling out.
