Built on 80 Years of Kern County Tree Care.
About General Tree Service
Providing Trusted, Professional Tree Care in Bakersfield
Expertly serving homeowners, businesses, and agricultural properties across Kern County.
General Tree Service is a family-owned, minority-owned business proudly serving Bakersfield and Kern County with reliable, professional tree care. We are known for doing things the right way. That means we show up prepared, working safely, communicating clearly, and leaving properties looking clean and well cared for.
We understand that trees are not just part of the view outside your window. They add shade, value, comfort, and character to your property. They can also pose a serious liability when damaged, overgrown, or stressed. That is why our team approaches every job with the same focus and precision we would expect for our own home.
Our Legacy in Kern County
Serving the Community Since 1945
General Tree Service has deep roots in the Central Valley. Since 1945, we have helped property owners across Kern County manage their trees with confidence. What began as a local operation has grown over time through strong word of mouth, long-term customer relationships, and a reputation built on consistency. Mortimer and Frances Lopez founded this company on the values of honesty, respect, and hard work, and their son Conway carries those same values today.
Even as we have grown, our approach has stayed the same. We believe tree work should be handled with care and planning, not rushed. Each tree, property, and situation is different, and our job is to provide solutions that fit the needs of the customer while protecting what matters most: your home, your business, and your safety.
Because we are local, we understand what makes tree care in Bakersfield unique. Trees here face heat, dryness, wind exposure, and seasonal changes that can quickly affect health and stability. Experience matters in this environment, and our team is equipped to recommend practical services that support long-term tree health and reduce avoidable risks.
Family-Owned and Community-Driven
A Family Business That Treats Customers Like Neighbors
We are proud to be a family- and minority-owned business, and we take great pride in serving the community we call home. Being locally owned means we are deeply invested in Kern County. We are not focused on quick transactions or one-time projects. We focus on building lasting relationships through dependable service and consistent results.
When you work with General Tree Service, you can expect:
- Respectful, professional communication
- Recommendations that match your goals and your property’s needs
- A team that values safety, planning, and quality work
- Service that feels reliable from the first call to the final cleanup
Expertise You Can Rely On
Tree care is not guesswork. The best results come from experience, training, and a clear understanding of how trees grow, respond to stress, and recover after pruning or damage. That is why our team follows professional practices designed to protect both your property and the long-term health of your trees.
General Tree Service holds active membership with ISA and TCIA, two of the most respected standards organizations in professional tree care. These affiliations reflect our commitment to safe work practices, ongoing learning, and delivering tree care that aligns with established standards.
Whether we are trimming a mature shade tree, removing a hazardous tree, or responding to storm damage, our goal is always to provide work that is safe, responsible, and built to last.
24-Hour Emergency Service
Emergency calls often involve:
- Storm-damaged trees or broken limbs
- Trees leaning after strong winds
- Hazardous branches over structures or driveways
- Trees blocking entryways or property access
- Trees threatening utility lines or electrical access
